Rhythm and other poems

RHYTHM

Feet Shuffling,
Drums beating.
The movement is fast,
And the body gyrates
While the heart pounds.
It is an African rhythm that moves you.
The spirit of the drum has captured your soul,
And it is this soul that moves you.
In time.
Always in time.
It makes your body jump
And your waist wine,
Your head shake
And your chest tremble,
The feet – Swift.
Strength.
Feel the strength in the rhythm
As you dance – Yes !
You are dancing.
Your soul moves with the rhythm in dance
Flowing slowly,
Then faster, faster, faster,
And … STOP !
The drums are silent.
When the music is no more
The soul is no more.
It is the music that moves the soul.
So the soul begins and ends with the music
And the rhythm,
Dies.

UNTOLD

You think one day someone would notice me
Take one look at me and know that I am secretly a POET.
Hear me speak and realize I am lyrical,
Read my eyes and feel my feelings.
Unread writings
Night writer, writer of the dark
Afraid to bring to light my words
Do they know?
A poet is a poet when the heart writes
Feel what you read
Give the heart a rhythm. You think one day someone would ask me
Take one look at me and know I am secretly a POET.
Notice me and know I am simple,
Touch my mind and know that I am sensitive.
Composed thoughts
Disjointed thoughts, thoughts of thoughts
Ascending slowly towards the light
They will know.
Feel what I write
My heart is full of rhythm
I AM A POET.
