Issue 4 – The Mission Statement

Well yes. There is a saying that good things come to those who wait…well. This issue had to be the best ever; because we all had to wait seven months before we saw it coming. Hey, I’ll be honest with you: I can make a lot of excuses/reasons for being late, and they would all be justified. But that wouldn’t make a difference to either of us. So I won’t even try to go there.

But sorry we are. Instead of that, I’ll use the space for a better purpose. The past year has been an exciting one for us here at TOPSOiL. We found kindred spirits with similar vibes from all across the planet, and we are proud to announce that we are part of a growing network of underground voices that are tired of the dark. TOPSOiL takes that responsibility quite seriously and we will always represent the real… Real people. Real artists. Real work. No sell-outs to the man, or anything.

Which brings me to this next point; you’ll start seeing advertising in TOPSOiL. Ads, that people other than ourselves build, and for products other than the ones we think deserve the links for some reason. Don’t think for a second that it means that we’re going commercial. It’s just that in order to keep giving TOPSOiL away for free, we have to pay the piper…or in this case; the printer. We never want someone to say that they can’t pick up TOPSOiL because they’ve gotta buy food. Or warm clothes. We will ALWAYS be free. Free to pick up. Free to give away. Free to say whatever the fuck WE WANT. Or you want, because it is you the reader, that writes/draws/shoots/paints/bleeds/prays/sweats this magazine. We just have the privilege of putting it together. So keep the vibe, keep the faith and see you in two months…oh and that’s the other thing: we’re also going bi-monthly. And you can take that to the bank.
